Dortmund 2024 '50 years of the Westfalenstadion' Shirt
Posted on 03/04/24
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Westfalenstadion, Borussia Dortmund have unveiled a unique shirt set to be worn at home for their fixture against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
The Westfalenstadion, boasting a capacity of 81,365, first opened its doors on April 2, 1974. This week, the iconic venue celebrated its half-century mark. In homage to the inaugural team photo captured at the Westfalenstadion, now named the Signal Iduna Park, the club launches a special-edition shirt.
Embracing the classic black and yellow motif, the black area of the main body incorperates a tonal sublimated depiction of the historic Westfalenstadion. Adding to the design the kit features a retro BVB emblem alongside Puma's logo, with the years 1974-2024 adorning the neckline.
Reflecting on the significance of their beloved stadium, Borussia Dortmund describes it as more than mere concrete and steel, it's a ground where unforgettable moments forster a unique spirit that transcends boundaries. The exclusive jersey will debut during Saturday's pivotal top-four clash against Stuttgart.
