Portugal started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Poland, followed by a 3-2 defeat to the United States. They ended the group stage with a 0-1 loss to South Korea. Despite finishing third in their group, Portugal advanced to the knockout stage as one of the four best third-placed teams.
